Sheffield's Alfie Connor isn't exactly a newcomer to the world of thoughtful, chiming singer-songwriter pop - we've found odds and ends about him online which date back to 2013, but latest track 'Stranger' feels like something of a triumphant (re)arrival. Tenderly teased guitar notes and brushed percussion provide a perfect bed for Alfie's deceivingly joyous warbling, 'I look into your eyes but I'm seeing someone else tonight'. Zane Lowe is already on board and if he can keep producing these hook-filled tawdry tales, nothing will be able to hold him back. - DC
